Stock pipes

I am going to swap out my vance and hines pipes and install the stock pipes to get thru inspection.I am assuming you take the flanges off and reinstall them on your stock pipes.
If so what keeps the flanges from just sliding down the pipe?
I know it sounds like a stupid question but I was just sitting here at work thinking about it.

exhaust

this won't be a very technical explanation, but here goes:
About a 1/4" back from the end of the pipe is a groove. There is a flat washer like keeper that fits inside the groove.(the keeper is split so you can get it on/off) This is what keeps your flange from coming off. The keeper is very easy to remove, no special tools needed. I just use a small vice grip and work it off. Installation is very easy as well. Hope this helps!

To get through Insp.?

WTF! The V&H pipes "should" pass insp. :2thumbs:

WTF do you live? The state of "DAMN PICKY!"

Call a bike shop first and ask them if they do inspections and would your bike pass with the V&H on it?

dead :D
I live in delaware and we have state run dmv. They check your exhaust with a loudness meter and trust me vance and hine exhaust will fail everytime. Its fucking stupid everybody runs thru with stock pipes and then they take them off for a year until next inspection.
I have never seen a cop pull somebody over because the bike was to loud.

Yes, you use a C-clip tool and remove the split ring and pull the collar off and put it on your other pipes. Nothing keeps them from sliding down the pipe except maybe the heat sheild. Just make sure your exhaust gaskets are in good shape or replace them alltogether to be on the safe side. Get them tight when you bolt them up.

There wasn't even any gaskets on the flanges.I put them on and they are almost as loud as the vance and hines pipes.
I am hoping if I tell them they are the stock pipes they will let me go.

A few years ago when I moved up here to Washington from Kalifornia I had mine on a trailer and stopped at the State Patrols office to register it in Washington and it was a pull up place. They came out asked for my registration and license and looked at it and sent me on my way. Easy up here but may have had something to do with my Military ID!!! :D
