Well now that I have my broken clutch carrier taken care of, I figured I'd do some exploratory surgery on the chopper. When I bought it it already had V&H big radius pipes, a stock type K&N air filter, S&S rocker boxes, and manual compression releases so I know some work was done but no idea if anything else.
So I pulled the carb today to find that the restrictor plates were opened up which I would have done if they weren't. I also opened up the carb to see what the jetting was seeing as I get backfire through the carb every once in a while and some deceleration pop, but I also cut most of the center of the baffle out and welded it together so I figure decel pop is normal. So I found it has a 72 main jet 295 intermediate jet and a 40 air bleed. From what I looked up I think that's stock jetting but wanted to ask to see if anyone knows for sure.
I also got a new cam cover gasket so I can see if it's still the stock cam or not, but waiting till I do an oil change to do that cause I assume oils gonna dump out anyway.
From looking on here most people are running at least a 31 intermediate, 50-60 air bleed and anywhere from 74-78 main. First time I checked the plugs they were a little light so I figured she was a little lean but when I just pulled to change to the E-3 they were a little sooty, so I'll have to get a couple sets and do some testing. Here's what they looked like when recently pulled.
