o.k. when I first decided to look for a Big Dog I was happy at all the used low mile bikes for sell. however, since I've found this site and see all the quality issues that someone has almost daily I'm wondering if it wouldn't be wise to buy a Big Dog that has lots of miles on it with the assumption being that all the crap thats going to go wrong will have done so already and has been replaced. I'm I thinking right? some of my co-workers made the comment that Big Dog's are for riders with lots of experience. I thought they were talking about riding experience. maybe they were talking about people with mechanical experience when it comes to fixing things.

just remember that this site is used by people trying to find a fix for bike problems. lots of folks on here have never had a problem. I personally have only had minor cosmetic issues. yes it does help to have some mechanical knowledge to help yourself or us help you find the problem and fix it. 07's so far seem to have been the best year for the bikes with the new DSSC right side drive bikes. best thing I can tell you is find a bike you like and buy it for a price you can be happy with.

I have had an '06 Pitbull for going on 3 years now.... only one minor issue that was fixed immediately. No other problems at all.... knock on wood.

07 k9 and I beat the ever living shit out of my dog. She listens though. 22k in 18 months. minor things nothing major that was not self inflicted

Bought my chopper new in '05 and have made more than a half dozen runs from the midwest to the east coast, all problem free. To date my only issues have been, a. the speedo, which was replaced this June under warranty (no problems since) and b. a front wheel bearing.

Other than that, all I have done is changed fluids, rear brake pads and a front tire.

From this site I learned how easy it is to change brake pads. It took me 15 minutes at the most (to replace my rear pads). What a savings! I had the dealer replace the rear pads once (at a cost of $85) and I was able to do it for $32 (the cost of the pads). That is why this is such a great site!
