I posted a few months ago about a rattle I was have on my k9 first we thought it was the bolts on the struts cause they were busted off,but after replacing them the rattle was still there then I tried the sissy bar took it off and still the rattles continued. So I believe it might be the chain gaurd which took off and slightly bent it back so it's farther away from the belt. Still rattling fricking driving me nutz!!!! Could it possibly be that my belt is to loose and when I'm driving it has too much play and hits the chain guard?? Any ideas would be appreciated!!! Thx in advance

Don't know what pipes you have on but check your heat shields and also check your baffles.

you could check to make sure the shock mounts are not broken on the underside of the bike. have you checked to make sure your wheel bearings are not ready to fly apart? (you have 3 in the back wheel) have you checked to see if the buttons that hold the floating rotor to the carrier are worn and loose? (think there are 8-10 of them per wheel. cost about $10-15 per button. ya, i know THAT'S FU*KIN' EXPENSIVE) good luck.

RRRUFF Hit it. Mine drove me nuts trying to find the rattle. First it was the rear heat shield, one year after purchase. Just yesterday I changed the front. The braces that hold it on to the pipe break allowing it to rattle at certain rpms. When it is cold and you try to shake it, it doesn't move making you think thats not the problem until you move it just right. Problem is, there is three brackets that hold it on, if only one brakes its hard to find until you remove it, then it falls off. Easy find. Three hose clamps hold it on. Unscrew them from underneath and pull it off. Bet two are broke!

I was having the same issue and found that the screw which holds the rear fender to the frame was loose. I don't know if that would be the same issue for you ...just a thought.
