Sterling Chromite plug wires

Put a set on last week and bike rode like hell. I had lights flashing speedo was jumping from 70 mph to 0. I was glad pig pen was carring an extra set of wires under his seat, switched them back at the bar and bike ran great again. The wires looked real sharp but wtf... If you own a set I would keep my stock wires under my seat just in case. It could have fucked up a good ride. I have a brand new set of Blue wires with 5 miles on them going cheap if anyone knows of some one that can use them. I don't recommend them for the Big Dogs!

What make and style of wires are they? They don't happen to be solid core wires are they? Those will screw with our bikes. I had a set of Taylor wires on my bike for some time but the color started to fade so I removed them. They always ran great.

Something must be different because other people are using these without a problem and I've had mine on for about 2000 miles and the bike runs perfect

I was thinking about getting a set of these for my K9. I know dogvet said the ones for the FXR should fit. Does anyone know the length on the wires for the FXR and do they have 90 degree boots on both ends? I have read some mixed reviews in this thread. Thanks in advance for any input!!

I have been to J&P and they had HD plug wires hanging on the shelf that looked just like the BDM ones. I didn't look to see what bike they were for but I would say that the FXR's are probably the ones!

DON'T DO IT! I had them on my K9 and they arc to the cylinder heads! Skip the bling here, it'll run like shit and it took Rob and I forever to figure out why he couldn't tune it!

RIDE IT HARD!!!
I've been running those wires for 8000 plus miles already and no problems. If they are arcing, they may have a crack in them or may not have been produced right. Try a different set and see what happens.

There are always exceptions... but its mostly true to cause problems.

Seems like later model year bikes are having problems. I've had them on my 02 Bulldog for several years without problems.

Yep, I really am "Slow"...

Just installed a set of Magnum Chromite II spark wires on the K9. PtNo 3030C used, but not without complications.

These wires are approx. 1/2" shorter than the stock Accel 8.8mm wires. They do reach, but the difference in length caused the metal cup covering the braid to rest on the top cylinder head fin on each side.

I added a small Adel clamp to each coil mount screw, and used these clamps to anchor spot ties to hold the wires in a position where the metal cap cannot touch the fins.

Looks good, at least I like it, and runs good too. 'Course I'll always carry the take-off wires in the tool kit...

Here's what it looks like, and what I did to stack the deck in my favor:

Insert title here...
Did anyone that had problems, arcing or otherwise, try coating the inside of the boots with dielectric grease?

The wires themselves have nothing to do with the EHC unless they're arcing or have solid cores which in both cases cause electrical "noise" that can confuse the EHC. Any aftermarket wires, assuming they're not cheap pieces of shit or solid core, should work.

I wish I had more money.
I had those wires on my bike when I bought it. Used off of the ebay. The bike ran well. That being said after a year or two of riding the bike. Both wires busted inside the boot. The bike was doing all kinds of weird stuff electrically and I found it after pulling out all of my hair. So If the bike starts doing some weird shit after a while check to make sure the wires are still intact. They do and did look great. Mine turned a little yellow as well.
