I just want to take the time to explain a few things here, only because some things have gotten out of control. Some of you know about the issues at hand and can relate. I have a feeling this thread might get closed down, but want to get this off my chest.....

I joined this site in order to help others with Technical related issues. I think for the most part I have.
I may not be good at spelling or grammar. But I am good at the things I love and have a passion for. Some of which are welding, Metal fabrication, Landscape photography and ultimately working on motorcycles. I put that passion and pride into everything I do. Many of you can attest to this. ...But I am not writing this to brag to you about what I can do and what I have achieved over the 13 yrs of professionally working on motorcycles. I am writing this in hopes that maybe others can see the problems and help to eliminate them, even if it means blocking certain people from this site.
When I post to someones question, I do so in a manner of no judgement to others. If I have offended someone in some way without realizing it, I'm sorry. That was not ever my intentions. I know of one post I made that was comparing a Mechanic vs. Technician and some of you took it very personal. I named no names in that post and was not directing it towards anyone on this forum in particular. I was simply stating that if your taking your BDM in for service work, make sure they are educated and reputable.
To give you an example and comparison, let me ask you this...If you had a problem with your brain and need surgery, would you go to someone who has been through all the schooling and training classes, had thousands of hours of real world experience?.... Or would you go to someone who has read a few books, done some research off the Internet, and watched a few movies about brain surgery?
Sounds like a no brain er question right? (no pun intended)
Well the same holds true for taking your motorcycle in for repair. Or even listening to what people have to say on this site.
When I post to a thread, for the most part I will say..It's possibly this, or check this, or have you tried this?...I do not pick apart other peoples replies and degrade them. Why would you do this? This is grade school stuff done by people who are what we like to call "one uppers". Maybe they were picked on in school? Maybe they lack height in certain areas of their body? Only they know the real answer as to why they feel the need to be right all the time. Myself, I call that being a Damn tool!! Myself, I say get off this forum if your gonna act like this.
I hope to be able to remain on here as a member of this forum and help the ones who need help. But, I will not be involved with this grad school BS. Life is too short to deal with assholes. "Surround yourself with the people who treat you right and love you most" That's how I live my life.

Just let it roll - It's the internet never know who's behind the screen.

I know a lot of people appreciate the service and advice you offer. And you have a happy list of customers from tranny rebuilds. I'm about to dive into mine and have you go through it.

Andrew, I couldn't agree with you more!!! I joined this forum to meet other Big Dog riders and to also get help on solving some issues I've had with my bike. You have ALWAYS been a great wealth of knowledge and help when it comes to fixing problems on my bike!! If there are people in this forum who have problems with Andrew or any other people for that matter who are just trying to help, do me a favor and join another forum! I don't want to see forum members pick apart other members posts, that's just childish!! :bang:

Be confident my man..... in your technical knowledge and experience ... I have read your post and conclude that you have skills and knowledge... so you have earned my respect  they may throw rocks at you on this forum, but that's what they do everywhere they go ... don't take it personal or make any indication that they got to you ... you vented now, so let's get back to motorcycles

One of the old ones.
Andrew, there is a reason why Sachs 5th Avenue and Sears are still both in business. They both understand you can't make everybody happy..... I am familiar with your posts and have noticed efforts to be respectful to all questions. I pay attention whenever I see your posts because you know the breed very well.
You are one of the guys here who is a 'master mechanic'---advanced beyond most of us. I think you are very well regarded by members..and you contributions are valued.
As Eric says 'it's the Internet'...you aren't gonna get rid of little people with little minds....
I like data. Try this: Add up the average (or total) rep points of supportive post authors and compare that to the critics. Should give you a perspective on one uppers....

True, true..Thank you guys. Maybe I take it all to heart a little too much. But I am who I am, can't change that.

Speaking as a non-technician/mechanic type, I welcome ALL the help I can get to keep my scoot running as healthy as possible. And Andrew, I have read several of your posts and truly value your advice. Fortunately, I haven't met a single member on here who has shown me any disrespect, or vice-versa for that matter. I believe all of us band together on this site for camaraderie, kinship of the open road and, of course, to seek and dispense assistance and support whenever needed by our fellow members.
But we also need to keep in mind that we are all human. Meaning, we are flawed and prone to misspeak and behave poorly on occasion. Add to that the hard nose biker mentality and there's bound to be conflicts from time to time. That's just the nature of things.
My best advice is to take the poorly placed words with a grain of salt. As Confucius say, "Bikers with thin skins can lead to a lot of injuries." Okay, maybe he really didn't say that. But remember, it takes at least two opponents to keep an ugly argument going. However, I have faith this forum's leadership have and will continue to take decisive action against any member who shows a pattern of misconduct and disrespect. Just my 2 pennies worth...

I agree with you Andrew, I try to only post in an effort to help someone consider solutions. I try to only post on things that I have experience with my bike or some others I have worked on. I have not been to school of formerly educated on these bikes and I only speak out of experiences that I have. I am glad you are on this site and value your knowledge and value many others here also. I have learned alot from this site and the members here and just try to give back when ever I can. I don't really care what someone may think of any of my post because they can take it of leave it, I am only trying to help. I will also be glad when better weather gets here so we can just get out and ride.

I'm on your side. I'm basically an amateur mechanic with a job that pay's me enough money to rely on the professionals to do their job while I do mine. If there's someone disrespecting you, fuck'em!!

I am with you Andrew. You have a good following on here and I respect your opinons. I can't spell also nor do I have the knowledge you do on the dogs. The truth will show itself in time.

I'd be fucked if it wasn't for spell check.
That's what happens when they throw you out of 3rd grade for not shaving.
I copy some posts to ms word to verify i didn't fuck it up.

Andrew, this is a great forum and the mods do a great job of keeping it civil. With that being said this is still a public forum and sometimes shit will hit the fan. You have a good reputation on this forum and your expertise are greatly appreciated. We all need to vent sometimes.

You have a large following of "silent" owners, meaning we read everything you post and rarely comment yet respect all you post. I agree with looking at a posters REP as that is what a lot of members do when considering a posters response. Forums by nature are read by many, and a few comments can make it "seem" as something else, when the reality is 3 lousy comments and 2 positive comments tend to override the hundreds of silent readers. Hang in there, negative posters tend to fade away after a bit making the forum that much stronger.

You can also :BLOCK" a member and you will never see any of their posts and comments.

A Positive Attitude will Overcome all things negative.:2thumbs:

Alright, whoever is making negative comments better stop or you're gonna get it!:D

Seriously though Andrew, don't sweat it. I stand up in front of a building full of people every week and preach to them. No matter what I say or how clear I say it someone is going to take what I said wrong, disagree with me or take exception to what I said. When I was younger it use to bother me and I would try to track down every disagreement or offense to explain it better and fix it. After doing this for 27 yrs. I've learned you can't please everyone and some one can always find something to disagree with you about. So it's best just to be who you are and don't let your detractors bother you.:2thumbs:
