i have an 06 k-9, i pulled in to get gas shut the bike off, then when i went to re-fire the motor rolled once then nothing, both turn signals flashing , i put a jumper box on and it started right up. put volt meter on it and it stayed at 12.0 even when engines revs. votage reg. is getting power. does this problem point to the stator.

could be a tripped breaker at the 40 amp fuse between the regulator and battery

To check the stator, disconnect the lead coming from the stator, start the engine, you should get approximately 60 VAC over 1500 RPM or so, (I am guessing there on the exact voltage). If you do have the recommended voltage from the stator, you can put a DVM on your battery terminals; RPM's over 1500 and get a minimum of 12.9 VDC. Doing this should pretty much eliminate your charging system or verify that there is a problem with either of the two components.

I think you just have a weak battery. How old is it. It's needs 12.8 volts to start. Flashing lights are a sign of low voltage.

Battery is the cheapest thing to replace first!

keep it simple... as the boys said...

Start with the CB or fuse
then check the battery and see if it will hold a charge
then check the stator and VR
