Starting Troubles on 07 K9

Energy One
We just got this bike, and love it when it starts!! It has a new battery on it, we leave it on the battery tender when we aren't riding. It starts, we go to town and ride a while. Once we shut it off, it won't start again. It just has two clicks. After many tries, sometimes it will go ahead and fire, but tonight we had to hook a jump pack on it. It fired right away. Any help???

Sure, get a better battery. It needs 12.8 volts to fire up. Check yours with a volt meter and see what it says.

Welcome to the site

When hook up meter in garage, it says 12.9 volts. the battery is rated at 310 cca. haven't had the luxury of being able to read the meter cause it's left us in town!! What kind/size battery should we be running?

You checked all the grounds and wires? The ground to the starter also. Weak connection somewhere

Also put a meter across the battery with the bike running and you should be reading 13.8-14.5 vollts. This checks the charging system.

as a little added aid, before hitting the run button manually push the compression releases to make sure they are open. it will make the turn over easier on the starter using less current.

might sound silly, but......make sure they are tight! i was having that problem one day, and it was as simple as a loose positive cable.

I know the Battery is new but go someplace where they can properly load test it.
I have a whole pallet full of batteries, most of them will produce 12 volts on a mutimeter but do not have the cranking amps required to start your bike.
A lot of these were ones that customers had bought and swore they were good.
We happen to be a BMW Dealer as well and have a very nice Motorcycle specific load tester that is a BMW tool.
It contains a complete internal list of all sizes.
If your shop does not have a comparable tester try a BMW dealer just to load test it.
Good Luck !
