Starting problem

Spark is good.
Won't fire. An occasional backfire only.
Crank position sensor?

You take the air breather off and see if it is actually getting fuel in the carb?

Yes I did. Sprays from accelerator pump nozzle perfectly

Yes they are but I'm going to verify that again this afternoon. The gas is also fresh and the enrichener is also working.

I= I would try it without messing with the enrichner if you are getting a good spray in the carb

It seems that the plugs are not firing at the right time. Not sure what the crank position sensor does or if affects ignition timing.

Plugs are new. A sudden problem. Finally cleaned it up to start riding. Ran great at the end of last season.

Fresh gas in the tank maybe, but not in the carb bowl. Trying to start a bike with stale gas? The bowl needs to vent so that vapor left months ago [sitting]. So the plan would be to drain the bowl, turn the petcock on and let it flush the rest out and then close the bowl screw. The mixed gas might start it. Shelf life wise, today's gas goes bad in about 9 months. Yes it's still volatile and will burn with the new gas no problem.
