Ok guys I did a search and found some things but I still cant locate the problem. I was having the click click starter problem so I looked into the starter and found some primary oil in it. I ordered a new starter from accumax and installed it. My click click problem only happened when the bike was hot btw. So I installed my new starter and took it out for a ride today. I rode about fifteen miles shut the bike off thirty minutes later tried to start the bike and just clicks from the compression releases. I took a jumper wire and jumped the terminal on the side of the starter with the green wire to the post on the top of the starter (power from the battery) and it started right up.

When I got it home i put a mulimeter on the green wire and it has 8 volts going to it all the time even with the key off?? WTF It has eight volts going to it all the time key on or off. When I hit the starter button with the multi meter on the green wire the voltage slowy starts going up. If you hold the starter button in for about five to ten seconds it will eventually reach about 12.5 volts. If I hook up the green wire back on the starter and hold the starter button like i was explaining it will start after about five to ten seconds. EHC problem??? Please help guys. thanks

That's new one. I would start by checking all your connections especially at the ehc. Just don't know but I try to start with the simple things first.

Voltage regulator? I think the 05's had a VR problem that BD had a recall .. don't know about the 06's ... good luck ... someone here should know. ...

If the green wire does not have a cold solder jiont at the connection to the ehc.. cause there are no conections in the line you quite posabaly have a fried ehc
speacially since you have 8 volts on a circut that should have 12 to 14 volts at the push of the starter button and 0 went not pushed

The 8 volts I think is normal when the key is off. However the green wire should kick to battery voltage immediately when the start button is pressed. If it just creeps up slowly then the connections somewhere or the battery or EHC could be bad. Check the connections at the battery terminals for good solid crimps and clean connections.

The battery needs to be about 12.8 volts sitting to allow proper EHC operation. The battery must be on a good float charger when the bike is not riden. check for 12.8 volts across battery after OFF charger an hour or 2.

The battery is good. All connections appear good. Bike is always on a battery tender. The bike starts perfect the first time you start it. It's when it gets hot that its giving me a problem.

I hope you find the answer because mine does the same thing. I only get the click click when the bike has been runing for awhile. I have a new battery and was thinking about having my starter rebuilt.
