Starting Issues

So having just replaced my VR that started burning and Flaming as I was driving down the road, I was excited to hear the roar of my engine. It turned over a couple of times but slowly lost cranking amps, so I hooked it up to my car battery-not started and all I get is the sound of the compression releases. Thought the bad VR might have damaged my battery, so I bought a new one and still the same. I see that I have a red light that comes on in the 4 lower row of the EHC, which the manual stated is for the ignition. Im not sure if this light comes on automatically or its suppose to be clear rather than red. I have cleaned and tightened all battery . The battery is good and has the necessary cranking amps...

Any suggestions are
better than me just looking at the bike and scratching my head..Thanks

I'd bet your EHC is toasted..bad VR are devasting.....but..lets rule out a few things first. I recall you put out the fire and drove home you didn't unhook the VR though first?

When you turn the key on you got all lights? High/low? Speed sweep? What about tach anything funky?

Yes the vr was unhooked due to the wire going back to the battery being burned through near the VR. I get all lights, horn and tach

I have 12 .6 volts to the hot solenoid solenoid. I also noticed when I removed the side plastics that I get a red light at the ignition module when I am starting it to test

New battery..its out of the bike know as I am trying to trace wires. What does the red light in the ignition module mean? My mechanic friend keeps telling me to find the relay or fuse as it may be bad, but where would those be?

There is a circuit breaker on the bike it's a gray little box with a black button on it but of the bike is wired correctly it's not your problem. Your VR should have went through the CB when you installed your new one.

No fuses on a Big dog with an EHC unless someone has changed something.

New batteries need to be charged..thats why I asked.

Red-light on ignition module is good that means it's got power.

I replaced the CB as it was fried ( couldn't reset breaker) with the Circuit Protection kit

So I have tested the solenoid and I have a constant 12 volt on the main wire to the solenoid . The secondary main wire that goes from the solenoid to the starter has no voltage when off and none when trying to start it and the below wire in picture has 9 volts when off and 11.15 when attempting to start it according to the link supplied Mr Wright , the issue is up line. The only test I haven't done is to hardwire the two solenoid bolts to ensure the starter does work.

There is your problem, charge that new battery, all the way, then try it. Just because the battery is new, doesn't mean it's good. Lots of junk new batteries out there. What brand is it?

Duracell Power Battery 310 cranking amps...so I went through the link you sent and found that one of the wires to test coming from the solenoid has varying amp issues which mean that the problem is up from the solenoid
