Starting issue

My K-9 won't start...when I hit the start button the horn chirps and the blinkers/hazzards flash. Battery cables are tight. Suggestions?

put the battery on a tender and double check both ends of the battery cables, on the battery and the ground and the starter. The blinking is how the "computer" tells you there is a low voltage problem. Right guys?

check the battery. needs to be 12.8 volts

Weak battery. Go buy a "Battery Tender" and keep you dog on life support. It drains 1.5 m amps per day or something like that. It's all in the manual.

The lights blinking is your bike telling you it's got a weak battery.

How about going to the intro section and telling us about yourself.

I've had this happen to me twice. I now keep a battery tender next to my bike. If I don't ride it during the week I plug it in Thursday night so it is ready to go on Friday. Its currently on life support seeing that our high today was -10 degrees here in good ol' Minneeesota. Dont cha know.

If you test the battery and it reads 12 or more volts and won't start, it means there is not enough current to the starter motor. Current is just as important as voltage.

If the battery is more than 4-5 years old, I'd say, just get a new battery.

The battery tender is really a great tool. I put the tender on my bikes at least once per week too keep them charged. Especially a Harley that has an anti-theft module. They draw current all the time and can wear down a battery, if the bike is left for long periods idle.

It takes at LEAST 20 mile of riding at an average speed to start recharging your battery...If you start the bike up, let it warm up and then shut it off...you just drained alot from your battery...You HAVE to check the battery terminal ends with a wrench...not just grab them and try to move them....I have to tighten my battery cables weekly on my bike so it's not uncommon for them to be loose....If I'm not on my bike and it's home it's ALWAYS on a battery tender....and I still have to buy a battery at least once a year if not more...course my battery is way small(not a Big Dog) but it's just a cheap fix to keep a battery tender on them daily...
