Starting and Surging

I have a 2001 Pitbull that had some battery issues but those are straight now. My issues are as follows. The bike does not want to start if I use the button on the handlebar. It acts like a dead battery and will not turn it over. Ican get it to turn over if I use the plunger on the starter but it is not real strong.b it will work from time to time after the bike is warm. I am assuming a bad starter relay. Where is the starter relay and is it in the Thunderheart control module. I just wanted to replace and see if that was the issue. Nadditionally, I am having some issues with surging. Nwhem running at low speeds and idling it is fine. If in gear and accelerating it surges pretty bad n almost lime it cuts in and out. I also notice my signals take a while to work after I start the bike. They do not work at first but start to work after the bike warms up. Any thoughts or does it look I have a Thunderheart module going out. Many help is appreciated as this is frustrating. N

The starter relay is in the Thunder Heart Mod. (black relay on back side of Module). Check under the rear fender, make sure the wires are ok. That the tire hasn't rubbed anything. Make sure the ground cable is tight at the starter.
