delly,

Going to take a trip over to FH house on Thursday and see if that got this mysterious kit in stock and if so buy one and get the info up and pictures. If nothing else it should make a good spare.

Delly, its 417-624-8886 - Accumax Auto Parts - Robbie Sullivan is the owner/manager? They are the manufacturer and not sure if they sell to the public. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the engineer said he took one of their starters apart and installed a different type of bearing and seal. We've talked on the phone several times and he seemed to think type of bearing was as much to blame as the seal for letting oil by the jackshack.... Might wanna give me the weekend before you try to get one and I'll report on monday but so far, so good. If you do call Robbie, tell him you're having the same problems as Robert Holley.

Sorry Delly, just seen the price part. As mentioned I'm not sure if they sell to the public or not. I bought my starter from Moto-Electrix on ebay. This guy is in Joplin also and buys from Accumax. Dont buy one from him as of yet because they haven't had the new stuff installed. My starter is the first and only one they have tried this on. I am sort of doing a field test for them. Thats why I say let me run in hard this weeekend and I'll report on monday. Cost from Moto was $219 for the 2.0 KW. .... Just went out to the shop and still not a drop of oil under the bike!!!

It takes a few trips for the oil to get high enough in the starter to start leaking out. So keep an eye out for it!

Thanks TJ, will do.. When I installed the fisrt Accumax starter it was leaking after 30 miles and 2 starts. Probably was leaking before that but thats when I first noticed it. Will definately keep an eye on it..... Another JFY, I changed the primary oil again and went with 32 ozs. This is up from the previous change where I dropped down to 20 ozs and it still leaked. Just wasn't comfortable running that little in it.

I would do the same. Keep within the specs and make it work right. The dealer took care of mine and I haven't had a problem since. You'll get it worked out!

Okay went to my trusted dealer today to get more info on the kit that has been discussed.

Here is is what I understood, the kit is for re-building the starter and has an additional seal and a few other items that is designed to take care of the leaking oil. It is a ver nice kit, IMHO one of the best deals out there.

My cost was $9.99 and it comes with pretty much everything including electraklen, bearing, numerous seals, gear retaining spring and circlips, etc. No electrcial compnets such as contact bushing though.

After discusing with the tech, it is not just a quick on and off fix and is somewhat of a pain. Nothing that can not be done by a confident user with right tools or a good shop. They said, the biggest problem was holding down the spring, gear and bushing while trying to put the retaining circlip in place. Good to have a buddy assist.

Didn't need the kit myself, and the dealer said that they have done a few of these already and so far so good with them. Also the kit was what BD told them was the fix.

Anyway bought on for the tool box just in case may need to save some bucks later and do a rebuild verse possibly spending 100's of dollars if not needed.

Here is the kit:

Hope this helps some out there that may have the problem with the oil seeping past the primary and getting into starter.

Back from Helen Ga. Little over 400 miles, temps in the high 90s, stand still traffic and not a drop of oil (knocking on wood). Just wanted to let everyone know and thank everyone for they're help & support.

Okay noticed my starter had an oil leak also, got worried that the oil in the starter would screw it up. So pulled the starter, broke it down and yes full of oil. Cleaned it up with electra-clean and waiting on parts. Call Full House Cycles talked to Addie, (sweet lady) very helpful. She said that Scott the service manager there said this kit was the fix for this problem. Kit is on the way, $9.99 plus shipping much cheaper than a new starter. Will let you all know how the rebuild goes. Thanks Fiber for the heads up on Full House Cycles and the part number.
