I am having problems with my strater. I Click Run, and START. But it only makes CLICK sound. Is that the Solenoid/ starter going out. And how diffucult to replace. Should I have rebuilt, or buy new.

Check battery for full ampage. Have it tested with a load meter. Also check and make sure charging system is okay. And do you keep it on a battery tender? Does your bike have a circuit breaker on the charging system?

Thats the easy stuff to check first:hi:

It donesnt, do it all the time. If I put in gear and move bike forward and back . That some times help. Look good when a very hot blonde wanted a ride and I couldnt start bike.

The battery is a just over a year old. When you push start button and it does start, it has know problem. If that makes since.

i have had intermittent issues with my starter but they stem from the fact that the startes have issues to begin with in the drain off runs right through it or something to that effect and now the inside of my starter gets saturated in oil.as i write this i am preparing to take the bike in under warranty,starter has allready been ordered and arrived,i often wondered as well as my freinds also why there was allways a very small puddle of oil under my bike when i shut it off,come to find out its the starter leakin oil......that dont even sound right does it............as long as the battery is fully charged i didnt have an issue with the bike startin but the minute i didnt put it on the tender the starter would literally smoke and whine and make all kinds of abnormal situations arrive........

I am now having the same problem with my 04 Chopper. The battery is good but haven't checked anything else yet. Does anyone know where the starter relay is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would agree with battery.hd softail battery has 440 cca.i also put a manual push button on the solenoid just incase.

i got my starter buttom from mc advantages.they sent me a template that has all three styles.these are made by spyke.1800 726 9620.webb mcadvanages.com.

here is the part # for the button i got.spsb24 says fits 03 bd.mine is an 04,fits and works great.dont know about newer bikes

Jeff I just went thru this same thing on my 04 chopper. read Click Click Click no start in the technical forum. Long story short, I changed out the micro board in the right hand control, a new ehc and finally, a new starter. So far no problems.

It doesn't take the place of the start button which "electrically" energizes the starter solenoid. When you push it in you're "manually" energizing the starter solenoid.

So, if the starter circuit were to take a shit for some reason you could turn on the starter by hand. Although, if there's no power to the coil you'd still be fucked! :(

I wish I had more money.
I thought that it maybe pushed the plunger in manually. That would be nice... Maybe. Mine comes out but isn't always lined up and makes that fucked up starter sound. I Can't figure it out.
