starter stuck....

gentleman, greetings. this is my first new thread. thanks for your feedback in advance. got an 05 ridgeback, starter will not disengage when i release button. started as an intermittent problem, now its permanent. fortunately its winter in ohio. i was told low voltage would cause this. any thoughts?

Pull the back of the starter solinoid off and check it for dirt/rust poor contacts and that the return spring is not broken.

yes that is one cause, but look for short, and if needed you might want to take off the stater and take the end cap off and check the contacts in there. I had to on a 02 ProSport and after taking it to the shop on more then one time, I did it my self and cleaned it, checked it for damages, and put it back on and it never gave me anymore trouble....scooter

Thinks that is possibly the best place to start. When my battery starting getting weaker it acted up as well. Checking the starter at the same time.
