Starter/Starting Woes

Hey, Im totally new to this site and dont know where to ask a specific question, so here i am. I have a 03 pit bull, I was at laughlin river run with some friends and my battery was going south for about a month. anyway i went to start the bike awhile after running down from kingman (45miles) the bike didnt start, i had the brilliant idea to push start it. well that didnt go as i hoped it would. after catching my breath, i tried the starter button again and all i get is a click from the ehc stater relay. I sprung for a new battery and also put it on the old jumper cables to my truck, same result. WTF?? help please !

Hi guys. I have an 07 K-9 with similar problems. Made it halfway to the Laughlin, NV. River Run from San Diego and had to leave it with Yucca Valley Harley Davidson.
The bike ran just fine for a while, then shut down while running @ 70 mph, flashers go on??
Then it re-started fine , ran 1/2 mile, shuts off, flashers go on. Third attempt to re-start, I get flashers and horn, no start.
Battery checked out perfect with 13.6 amps and holds a load?? I called a Big Dog dealer and they said these were all indications of low battery so , I replaced it anyway. Got it going again, for now???
The dealer also said there have been numerous problems with the brain which produce these symptoms.

Thanks DeadOne good info to have.
I wasn't sure which battery he actually got as he just indicated that he left it at a Harley Dealer so I was assuming, I know "Ass out of You and Me" sorry, he got some other battery than a stock BDM.
Having said that I still feel that some of our BDs, my 06 K9 is a classic example, need upwards of 400 or more CCAs. The HD battery that my dealer finally installed, per BDs electrical guru who came out to San Diego just to troubleshoot my ride and what would be the third battery, rates at 427 CCAs and until that battery I had all the symptoms that so many of these other guys have. Once that battery was installed all the magic gremlins went away and that was three years ago. Still running with zero issues and same battery.
Of course I don't mean to indicate that anyone should just run out and buy a bigger battery. Troubleshooting should be done. But when the bike goes through its routine of flashing lights e.t.c. it inevitably leads to an issue of insufficient amperage which causes the EHC to "reboot", as the BD guru described it.

Hey Guys, just wanted to put the finishing touches on this posting of mine. After all was said & done, pulling the starter, cleaning everything up in it, then having the same shit no start problem I gave it one more shot. Had a spare EHC I picked up from here on BDB (Props out to Pops/Stan, thanks for your unit, it got me back up & running). Swapped the new/used one in for my old one & she fired right up. Took a trouble free test ride & think she is road worthy again. I kind of enjoyed taking my time and wrenching on the dog. Guess it's a good feeling we all get, especially when things work out. So a big shout out to all my Brothers here who chipped in with their suggestions & insights which is what got me motivated. Really appreciate the group.
