Yep, you got it right.
Drain oil, remove lines, remove 2 bolts + jackshaft bolt (on the primary side) and starter should slide right out.
If you'd have a closed primary, you would normally drain that too, in order to take off the outer primary cover to get to the jackshaft bolt.
In your case I think you'll get away much easier.
If it whines like a blender :lol: , it's most likely the starter clutch. Cheap fix.
