Starter problem today

ok heres an update....the pipes rock....set off quite a few car alarms at work when i fire it up in the parking garage.
However then fun part.
Starters acting up again.....I tore it the bike down...took of primary cover removed starter and it was flooded with oil.
What i am curious is what is the jackshaft seal? I am going to take a bunch of pictures in the morning , I have everything taken apart.
I bought a harley jackshaft seal on a whim while I was at Harley, I decide to change all the fluids and do a complete service since i am this far into it.
I am pretty sure I know how all the excess oil got in their besides a seal failure.
I had my mechanic do a service on it a couple months ago,I checked the transmission fluid, it was wet but clear, kinda wet(he used synthetic) so I added some more fluid, and i think i over filled the transmission and it got in the starter. Not sure if this is possible but, I think it might have led to it.\
Somewhere i read about venting the primary cover, I would love to do this while I have it all apart.
Side note, playing with the starter and cleaning it all out, I se no Jack shaft seal or a provision to put one in. The o-ring on the starter I am going to replace and i need to replace the teflon do dad in the primary.
So I am going to spend xmas eve and xmas day doing what I love , wrenching away!!!

Your RSD doesn't have a standard jackshaft like the traditional HD models. Everything on your RSD is inline so no need
Get a larger oring on the starter motor. The stock one doesn't seal. I have lots of posts here on rebuilding mine and it's done great after going through 10 of the stock starters
On your 05 it should already be vented. Look on the inside of the inner primary just above the rear motor mount and see if you see a screen
Got everything done!!! took it for a test spin. Top engine mount came loose.
Went back to the house. Tightened it up, went out romped on it a few times, heard a load squeeling, from the primary area.......(and then it went away)
Before the noise i was so happy that i finnaly had the clutch adjusted good.But I think I need a new clutch basket, It was working perfectly then got worse, to wear the clutch wouldn't totally disingage.
Oh well I spent xmas wrenching on the bike, and xmas eve too...

Well good to hear it si going in the right direction and you haven't taken a .45 cal to it yet. Also commend you on taking the start to people that deal with them all the time. More people should look into old time starter and alternator shops if there starter is going bad. For the most part these shops can rebuild any starter for allot cheaper than one can buy, a good amount of times, where someone will throw a few hundred dollars at a new starter, taking it to the starter shop will cost you under a hundred and get you right back up an riding.
The same goes for if you have stator go, out. Instead of spending big bucks, it may be worht sending to a specialist and many times, if the damage is not pyshical, they can rewind, better even for less than half the cost of a new one.
On the seal, yes some of the 05 and other had an issue with the primary leaking by the jackshaft and into the starter. Had it happen on my first one (whihc at the time BDM replaced with new). Also BD used to have a kit to rebuild it wiht a proper seal (some where I had a post on that years ago), but has Raywood said, getting a bigger o-ring seems to help. So continue to do search on here and you will find many many threads on most any problems along with suggestions over th years.
Once again Kudos to you for taking the starter to a rebuilder, have to shake my hand many times at the money that is thrown for new starter where in many times, a simple rebuild by a specialist will do jest as well and cost allot cheaper.
