Starter Part Placement?

Energy One

So I am rebuilding my starter due to the famous oil leak on a 07 K9. Got a new starter clutch drive and little bit larger o-rings to seal her up good and going back together with it and now for the life of me I cannot remember where this washer went.

Does it go on the front side towards the Primary or the backside toward the starter housing? My manual has absolutely no info on the starter and all pics I have seen throughout the threads on starters I have yet to find a reference in regards to this washer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... :2thumbs:

I double checked the 07 manual and the 08 and your right nothing.

I guess it would pay to get in the habit to check the manual before disassembly and have a camera on hand. SUCKS!

I can't see the picture on my phone but i think your referring to the washer that goes over the drive shaft ahead of the c-clip. I'll br on my computer in an hour and will look at your photo. Make sure you plug up all the holes with JB weld and put a larger o-ring on the solenoid case too. And if your starter doesn't have a drain back grove cut out dremal one in.

Thanks Raywood, you will know once you see the pic! I took an image from one of your old posts and edited to describe where this would go. I believe it goes on the backside of the clutch drive bearing where it meets the solenoid but want to be sure...

Sealed it up and took my dremel to the housing and made the drain back groove. Got a new clutch drive for it and went one size up on the O-rings so it will all be nice and snug.

Thanks again!

OK, so it actually goes on the front side of the clutch drive bearing between it and housing that I modified for oil drainage which I assume is there to protect the front bearing since it is the one that would be exposed to the primary.

I knew you would be the one to ask. Thanks a million!

Also, good luck on the business you and Kaptin are getting up and going. It will be a good thing and I feel you guys will do well...
