Found it out why the stater is filling with oil... it isnt the outer o-ring its the inner o-ring in front of the bearing and its pressed in... I dont now if the rebuild kits come with this one.... But this all took place when the clutch hub nut back off.... it put so much torque on the starter that it broke the seal ( this is what I came up with) because it happen at the same time..

The question is... Has anyone had this happen to there bike?? :bang:

CHIME THE F IN  If this going to happen every 200 fn miles iam gettn rid of this SOB :rant::angry::angry:

Thats definatly replaceable might be able to just take out the gasket and bring it to the Harley shop or possibly automotive and they should be able to find you a replacement.

If you want to get rid of the bike, I'll do ya a favor and give ya 5k cash this weekend :D

There are other things you need to do to seal that thing up. Wild Steed Worx will be active in a week or so offering this service.
But for now you need to plug the holes that BDM bored in the casing (2 in mine) and change out the o-rings plus some other things.
Have fun

Thats kool just remember that will only take it back to its inadequate condition. I really doubt you will need new bearings as they don't see a lot of use. Back in 2010 I bought a BDM remanufactured starter and pulled my exsisting one too. Opened up the remanufactured one to find it was full of oil and other crap. They probably just clean out the Solenoid and resell it I would bet. But Kaptian Amerkia and I took the best pieces of each and after plugging up the holes and changing out the oring for a larger one (not the outer one) we created one good unit that has done great since. I just opened it up last week and took it apart COMPETELY :) and it was bone dry inside so our mods worked. Its back in the bike again and working great. There is so many things wrong with the stock units!!!!!

Until then I had went through 10 starters in 4 yrs on my bike but at least BDM kept replacing them under warranty.

That seal is not the problem yet everyone says it is. I'm still using the original one. Does your starter casing have the relief cut out of it to allow the primary oil to drain back into the primary? Also does your starter have one or two drain holes cut into it?

You can see that the seal fell apart and theres nothing left, thats what Iam going to search for... No I dont have that cut out yet(for drain back) but will have it done tonight :) And I have 1 hole at the bottom..
