starter not working

hi guys,I have an 05 pit bull that just klicks when I hit the starter button.I figured after 5 yrs it ia time for a new battery. Same thing with the new battery,in fact I saw a little smoke coming from the back of the starter itself.About 2 months ago I had a bandit clutch assembly installed,that shouldnt have anything to do with the starting problem I hope.Any help sure would be appreciated and thanks.Bob

check for lose connections 1st then this..

Search starter and you will find lots of info.!!!:2thumbs:

if you got smoke comin' from the starter, could have some oil leakin' into the starter from the primary. look at the bottom of the starter and see if you have an oil drop hangin' on it.
