I have a 2008 Big Dog Pitbull. And just like some others, sheered the jackshaft off on my starter. :bang: Does anyone know the details on a stock or replacement chrome starter for a 2008 Big Dog Pitbull? Like manufacturer part numbers, KW size, etc.....

Also if I wanted to try and get my starter rebuilt with a new jack shaft to have as a spare, what parts would i need to order, and where from?

Thanks.....

I read about the car alternator shaft fitting our starters. I made some calls to local shops, and sent some emails to BDM Corporate, and they did have a new shaft and installed it in the starter for me for $63.50. I did the R&R on the V and she runs like a champ! Im very happy I didnt have to spend another few hundreds dollars for starter #11. The part number for the shaft is 028381-0040, and the number for the starter it comes from is 028000-7300. I had mine done at Victory Auto Electric and Air, Inc. at 4521 Sunbeam Rd in Jacksonville, FL. Phone number is 904-731-5065.

As for BDM Corporate...they can fuck off, worthless pricks.

I hope the above info helps everyone. Enjoy the ride.

Good deal there Coolbreeze. Nearly two years later and close to 10K miles down the road and my $10 used car jackshaft in my starter is still holding up fine. I hope many people read this thread and quit buying a whole new starter for a broken jackshaft. KNOCK ON WOOD, but all I have done to my bike for a while is preventative maintenance.
