Starter fixed.... Still broke

I replaced my starter solenoid because my starter kept engaging while running. It's doing the same thing. I was sure the solenoid was to blame. Any ideas?

Send it out to get it fixed, Curtis or DOC's either one can rebuild it, or take it to a local starter shop

Could it be the start button making contact? Could it be a starter relay or a wire shorting out someplace. Seems like the selonoid is being energized some how.

The shop stated that with the assembly out of the bike they tested it and it works fine so the starter and solenoid are not the problem. It's at a Harley shop and they aren't willing to do any electrical work on this bike. So.... How does someone tell if it is the Switch, relay, or brain?
So I can put a slam button on it and bypass the button altogether?
Does anyone have a good number for WSW?

Is your bike still at the Harley shop? If you are going with a WSW slam button you will end up with your starter solenoid cover! This cover(center of the cap) can be drilled out to except a blunt plastic ball point pin into the center cap.This will allow you the manual push the solenoid in to start your bike.Then take bike home and trouble shoot or install WSW slam button.

Unplug the green wire from the solenoid, hook a test light into the female disconnect to a good ground. Then bang on the handlebars close to the start button and see if the light lights up. Also mess with the start button to see if it sticks. Does the button feel like it has a good spring under it? Just a suggestion:2cents::2cents:

I ordered the slam button today from WSW and plan on having the HD shop install it since they are waiting on primary seals before they can put it all back together. So let me get this straight: I install the slam button, disconnect both green wires and all should be good? Wether it's a short in a relay or the start button this will bypass is? Also will the run and kill switch work as they should?

If you just eliminate all the wires to the solenoid (or handlebar) and just use plunger, you also eliminate compression releases, unless someone has changed those to starter…. with that cam and decked heads I wonder if starter/Battery has enough power to turn the engine over...
