starter begin leaking oil

Hi all,

I notice yesterday that my dog begin leaking oil from a hole in the starter.
is it normal that oil come from the starter.
what can I do to stop the leaking.

your help is appreciate

See my post yesterday. My starter had oil on it which was 'blow-by' from Oring issue.

Bad O ring.

I got the O ring but still oil come from a small hole on the starter.
the oil is tick.
what is the hole for where the oil is coming from

Do a search... There are some threads on this.
I bought a starter that had been modified slightly to help with the oil problem.
You should remove it, clean it out and do the mod.

I am having the same problem, black oil coming from starter on my 05' chopper. Goes in shop this weekend hopefully nothing major. Will post results when fixed.

Common problem. The hole is to allow the oil to drain and not saturate the starter windings and destroy the starter. Very likely the seal on the jackshaft is bad.
