start up issues

Good posts here. Fired mine up the other day and ran fine for about two miles. Then flashers randomly start flashing as I’m motoring down the road. My garage was about 50 degrees and outside temp was 30. I made it to work and she sat all day but it warmed up to about 50 and I get ready to go home and click click click. Nothing. I pulled it inside my office, went and bought new battery, installed it fired up and I’m thinking good to go, NOT! Headed home speedo freezes on 10mph and doesn’t move. I’m like WTF! Park it for the night, next day go to fire it up, nothing. Move key back and forth, nothing. Go finish my coffee, come back out, hit the key, lights and dash work. No blinkers. Click click click. Been reading posts all day. Go back this evening, turn key, hit starter, fires up. Geez this electrical bullshit is for the birds!! I noticed this whole time working on it today the EHC has no lights at all lighting up. Key on or running, no lights on EHC.
Sorry for the long story, any words of wisdom? BTW old battery was just fine, just didn’t have the tools to check it first.
You have the issue with the circuits in the EHC where they will stop working when the temperature gets low enough. Put a new EHC in.

I use to get that click click click.. I wired my starter relay outside of the EHC and have never had another problem.. Ive wired a couple of 2000 big dogs relays outside of the EHC and they have all worked fine since. I also wired my blinkers outside the EHC to barrel flashers. In fact the only thing going through my EHC is the head light now. but now my bike is a old 1999 and I dont have led lights in the dash , electric speedo, computer or fuel injection.. I've made my own wire harness for a few custom bikes and so it wasn't much to cure the electric problems my dog had from the factory. when the EHC offends thee, pluck it out. but like i said, i dont know if you can hard wire newer dogs like I did the old dog.

I know you said new battery, but is it a good new battery with high enough cold cranking amps? Might make sure. These bikes need lots of power to turn em over with that compression... just a thought

No need to now. There are some bullet proof EHC's on the market now.

Hate to jump right to the EHC as allot of time it might be something else. Having no lights at all on it is not good. Also my bike would just shut off going down the road in warmer weather, flasher would flash and bike would not start. So I would smoke a couple cigs. and try it again 50% chance it would start right up. I replaced the EHC with Axel's back in 2016 plug and play unit. Never had that problem since.

Hey dr-K9, yes I have a 480 cca that has been awesome for 2 1/2 years. Deltran Battery Tender Lithium battery. Comes with 3 year warranty and weighs less than a pound.
I just bought a 330 cca thinking it was the battery but will be taking it back today.

My BT battery sitting on my bench showing 13.38 volts.

I want to say WOW! You really don’t know how sick your dog is until you replace that sick original equipment EHC. This DOG is rolling now. A lot quicker on the throttle and man she flies!!! Hook up with Wild Steed Worx if you haven’t already. I’m so excited for summer now!!

Curtis is good people, i have witnessed him helping people on the phone spending allot of time walking them through fixes and has even gone as far as looking up other vendors part number for people and directing people to where to get parts for their bikes without making a sale . That speaks volumes of his character and willingness to keep the bikes running !
Thanks Curtis for all you do even in spite of all the bs .

What about starter stall,

Starter engages, but won't turn over, reset the ignition switch and it will either start normally or do the same thing

You really should start your own thread so that you get the attention you need for your issue.
Starter "stall" can be a number of different issues.
What brand/model battery are you using?
