Looking forward to retirement
I know everyone says, there's 7 months to go relax. Well that's not in my nature. So being the Anal one in my group, last week I insisted we book our overnight rooms for the run to and back from Sturgis now. We're in Louisiana so we do a 14 hr run from Shreveport to Omaha Neb. the first day then Omaha to Spearfish SD the second. On the way back We leave Spearfish to Kansas City 14 hrs then the second day back to Shreveport. This route works great for us and we usually stay at the Double Tree on Cypress St in Omaha. NOT THIS TIME!!! It was finally the 4th hotel I called before they had 3 rooms. The girl at Double Tree remembered me due to a huge screw up on there part last yr,( they failed to give me back my credit card and I was so punch drunk from driving I forgot to get it back, got 2 hrs down the road the next day and went to fuel up before I noticed it gone. Had to turn around and go back to get it.) She said, due to the funneling of people going to Sturgis and funneling from the south, south east and east hotels are already booking up. Same thing in Kansas City but I got rooms on the second hotel. So for those who are going and split up the driving in different days BOOK YOUR ROOMS NOW!!!!!!!!!! :2thumbs:
