I have a 2008 Ridgeback and have to head off to work. Will this work? I can't locate the rating of my starter right now. The shape looks right. This model also says it will fit 1.0/2.0/2.4/2.6 KW STARTERS.

Oops, I just found the template at Starter Buttons and Pull Button Solenoids.

I'll have to measure twice later and order then.

Thanks in advance,

Huw

I have to be the one to ask the dumb question...what is a starter slam button and what does it do. My take..it acts as a solenoid and it allows you to manually push the starter bendix into the gear....close to correct?

The big advantage to a slam button is when, likely when and not if, you lose the ability to start you're motor with the start button on your handlebars you simply reach down and push the slam button.
The slam button simply allows you to activate the solenoid on the stater manually.

Yes, the slam button in the BD parts area, link is above, works with all Big Dogs excluding a few rare old models.

Postman and I are taking advantage of Kaptin doing the research and getting the right part at a great price. Thanks Curtis!

Thank You Bowhunter
I want to live a dream and bikers like you are helping me do that so the least I can do is try to make it as simple and affordable as I can.
My goal is to provide all the BD parts needed to keep BDs on the road, reliable and looking good. So any input is much appreciated.

Order placed! Now I can install that starter Raywood rebuilt for me.
Also picked up a voltage monitor. Nice way to spend that $100 I got for Christmas....with enough left over for a couple beers.

Curtis,

Just ordered one from your site "Order Here" link......assuming this fits 2007 Pitbul w/117 or do I need to verify something on the starter first.....If so, I just placed the order, so based on what you say, I may have to delay or do whatever you advise......thanks

Kaptin,
Since having the button is only part of it, the other part being installation, can you give me an idea of how tough it is to install please? Also do I have to remove the starter or can it be put on with the starter in place etc? I am a bit itimidated by taking a bunch of things apart on the floor of my garage so the alternative is, what is the average number of hours a mechanic would charge for the labor?

I definitely want one of the buttons and will measure tonight to order. Thanks in advance.

All 05 and above starters use the same cover. Just make sure to tell us what year bike you have and we will ensure you get the right one

Its as simple as just removing the three screws and replacing. Installation time depends on you and how accessable your starter is. On some models its more accessable than others. Easy to do though.

While your in there you should take some emery cloth to your contacts and clean them up good. When you pull the cover off, the plunger and spring just slide out. Its under a little pressure but not much.
