Long story short, the dealer found nothing wrong with the sputtering issues I was getting :bang: :bang: ...they also said the cold air may have something to do with the sputtering...that doesn't make sense to me  ...
I've concluded it has something to do with my spike air filter...I get the same sputter when I'm warming up the bike, and if I"m too aggressive with the throttle, a cloud of gas will spit out of the air filter, and the bike will shut-down...that's what I'm feeling in 2nd and 3rd gear sometimes, except the bike won't shut down.
Anyhow, I called around and one dealer mentioned something very interesting....he said to remove the 1/2 inch screw (alan wrench screw) underneath the carb....he said, with these high performance air filter, it creates a strong vaccum, and by removing the screw it would give it some relief...has anyone heard of this, or has done this before? Any suggestions will greatly help...thanks

cold air is dense and can cause your engine to run lean - leaness could also be causing the spit from the air cleaner - did your dealer check your jetting and look for intake leaks? i must admit though I thought sputtering was more a sign of richness but could well be wrong - also have a play with your accelerator pump screw

I've taken out the screw from my carb that you are talking about - when I put my S&S dual air cleaner on it said in the instructions to remove it - don't really know why and don't know if it makes much difference

Bill, I know you just baught the dog and it's under warranty. If you want, you should check out Spencers in Belleville. These guys did the tuning on my bike and they have a dyno. It'll cost you a few buck but they'll get that sputtering out or will tell you what is wrong. Ask for Ralph if you go and tell him Claude sent you. They do really good work, some of the guys in the club use them.

No they are on Jerusalem right off the exit If you get onto 21 going south from say RT3 it's the Belleville exit. Once you get off the exit you make a left and then a right onto Jerusalem and it's a block away on the left. They are really great guys and it'll probably cost you no more then a c note to have it dynoed and tuned. The best benny your ever spend. Here is their sitehttp://http://www.spencerscycle.com/
