Does any one now how to shorten the wheel spacer to accommodate a new brake caliper for an dragon springer front end?
this is the only thing stopping me from completing my assemby

Sorry, I even went in the garage to see if I still had them or even some measurements wrote down but no luck. PM moespeed he just put the same springer on his bike.

Scott,
You want to try and get the wheel dead center - even if that means milling a little bit off both spacers. Like Al, mentioned the BEST option is to find a friend/shop with a lathe. There are some spacer kits available in the market, but not worth the price unless you are a frequent builder.

Have a few ideas on how to measure if that's what you are looking for but a calliper is a MUST for that - in fact who ever will mill you spacers will be able to help you with the measurement. You will have to take in your wheel and axel. If it helps the AS axel length is 10.5" and 3/4" in dia.

Come on now lets see some pic's - I got got an email letting me know my Springer has shipped :2thumbs::2thumbs: cant wait so need all the good info/tips I can get. (Have also purchased a 360 brake for that so will need some serious milling - lol)

Question - which trip tree did you use? Bating or Decapitator?
Did you rake your neck any further, or stick with stock?
Hidden brake line? Also any help on how to size and cut those fork tubes? Am using Al's How To as a bible but am not to sure about how to cut due to the angle. Any and all help appreciated.

Thanks

Scott, like I said, your spacers are going to be a custom fit. Your best bet is to simply put the axle in, center the wheel, then get a dial caliper in there and get a measurement. Be sure and take into account the fact that your wheel bearings will be recessed about 1/4". You need to measure that and add it to your spacers. Remember also that the axle itself has a shoulder on it, and that will act as your outside spacer on the left (rotor) side. When the axle is installed it will be recessed about 1/4" into the left rocker. Also be sure to use red locktite and crank the shit out of those clevises, I used a piece of 1x oak. Make sure they are mounted in the trees, parallel to each other and square. Any machine shop can make you spacers, but even better is to find a small builder in your area. Cut them from polished stainless if possible. Aluminum is ok, but gets dull and it's hard to get in there to polish it. With the springer you will see them.

Staffy when you are ready to cut your tubes call me. I didn't have to cut my main tubes, but the spring tubes will have to be trimmed for sure. Just level your frame, put the uncut tubes in the trees with the clevises attached, and roll the wheel in there. Cut the main tubes if necessary, and then fit the spring tubes according to where you want the spring pack to sit. I used a 10" metal cutting wheel in a chop saw to do mine. Clean the burrs off the inside on the clamps with 400 grit paper, and use wedges. It's very easy to scratch the tubes, especially if you get the black powdercoat.

Thanks Moe, will call you for sure :2thumbs::2thumbs: Thanks for the tip, will try and lightly tape/protect the tubes before inserting them into the trip trees and hopefully minimize the scratches.
