 Waz up fellow Dog owners! As spme of you know I have an 04 Mastiff. Was having some issues with Firing and running.Since my last post several weeks ago,I actually found a wothry mechanic.I was having an issue with no fire.So TOOK out the old thunder heart ignition system and replaced it with a Crane Hi 4 system. Also I had all jetting in carb changed. My mechanic said the jets were way to small.Since the new ignition swap the bike runs awesome and is STRONG.Only issue Im having now is bike seems to stumble at idle, low speed and after the eng. is up to operating temp. the bike spits back through the carb and shuts off.Have loosened gas cap to check valve makes no difference.I'll have to find reciept to see what size jetts were installed at the time of ignition swap.Anyone have any ideas as to what can be causing this annoying and embarrassing problem.A couple more times of this shit and no more S/S carb.Going with either a triple x or a PSi.Thanks guys for any input.

Find out what jets you got, and what exhaust you have or post a pic of your pipe. Sounds like a jetting issue.

Jet size and exhaust type

Main jet size .074 low speed jet size (32) my exhaust type are mean mothers.I had also found that two of the caps that resemble vaccum caps on the carb were dry rotted. So I replaced. This is puzzling to me it only does this intermittingly.Other than this very pleased with the hi 4 and new jets.

Did you check for intake leaks? the carb cough is usually a lean trend. If you have a intake leak that means the motor would be pulling in "un-metered" air and leaning out the mixture from the carb.

With the bike running

Simply spray the area where the intake meets the motor with brake clean. If the idle comes up then intake leak.

You can also use wd40 but that leaves a oily mess behind... brake clean just evaporates.

jets depend on your set up, location, altitude, temp, what you had for breakfast, how long you lasted last night, etc etc etc. Correct jetting is specific to you and your bike.

STARTS, BUT RUNS IRREGULARLY OR MISSES:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or have been detached (be sure to check both ends of
each spark plug cable).
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Battery nearly discharged.
5. Damaged wire or loose connection at battery terminals or coils.
6. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
7. Water or dirt in fuel system, filter, or carburetor
8. Fuel vent system plugged.
9. Air leak in intake manifold.
10. Air filter clogged.
11. Defective ignition module.
12. Defective ignition coil.
Look over this part it,s and special your intake if you not have a leak.
