Spike air filters?

Someone told me the spiked air filters are very restrictive... Has anyone had any trouble with them? I think they look awesome and want a change.... Any ideas on what is good out there??

check out the S&S dual runner... my bike photos has my pit with 1 on it... yeah I here the spikes have has some issues...

I had the D&M single spike. Looked cool, worked not so well. I had it pointed forward. With my motor mods, just wasn't good. I dropped 5 HP on the dyno with it on, so I just cut it off at the elbow, slid on a K&N, and now it works great. Plus it looks cool.

from what I've heard.. the S&S dual runner is the best filter set up for HP increase... you get like 5-6 Hp from the filter & jetting alone...

I have a wimmer on mine.
If you have the time, contact them, they have tons of information about why some cause you to lose power and some don't.
I am happy with mine, and can not tell any difference in power.

Hey Wade I have a single spike D&M and it performs fine, sea level high humidity , pointed it forward, pointed it up and I found no difference in performance. I know you can get a few more horses from other set-ups as the guys have told you. But I like mine fine! :2thumbs:

I also run with a spike, have not had any issues or big loss of HP. I've had my eye on the SS dual runner for some time now and will probably end up getting one. Your bike, your choice.
