Spike air cleaner

Hi guys, I installed new spike air intake, replaced old S&S teardrop aircleaner and bike started to run too rich. I can really smell it and plugs become black. What are options? Really like the look of the spike, but should I go back to old aircleaner or it is possible to rejet carb to get it work? Any ideas are welcome.

Yeah, those spike ac's look cool, but they just don't flow very well. You will probably need to drop both jets at least one size. If you can find a replacement K&N oil-type element, it will help, but won't completely eliminate the problem.

Even after re-jetting, IMO, you will find a loss of power. Looks vs. performance will be the important factor.

I have a spike air cleaner and I had it facing forward which I prefered as it was more out of the way. I replaced both jets and still had the same issuse finally on my last trip to Arkansas, I stopped in Kansas and Eric mentioned that I maybe I should move it so it points up and all my problems disappered. Although changing the jets were also important as I managed to get a little more giddy-up. Do not know if this is helpful, but though I would mention it.
