Spike air cleaner, bowl vent screw and jets question.

I’m in the process of getting new jets/tune because my k9 runs sub par after installing the spike air cleaner.

My n00b question: Has anyone every tried just pulling the bowl vent screw and not getting new fuel jets? I say this because I saw a S&S carb picture saying->

“If the S&S teardrop air cleaner is being replaced with an aftermarket air cleaner be sure to pull the auxiliary bowl vent screw. - Never use velocity stack on street driven motorcycles. Poor throttle response will be experienced."

It says nothing about re jetting? Any info would be great. Or I could just do a trial and error before I get new jets/tune. I just don’t want to mess anything up.

Pull it out and try it, won't hurt anything! Although don't be surprised if you still need to do a little jet work with the new intake...

What jets do you currently have in the carb? You are adding air input so you will need to increase the fuel. Read the S & S carb tuning guide so you can decide if your current jets are the correct size.

I pulled my vent screw and re-adjusted carb following S&S's instructions and mine runs great. Checked plugs and all is well.:2thumbs:

My current jets are what ever stock is? All I know is it runs poorly after spike air cleaner install. Note: If I just take it easy the bike runs and idles good, but when you open it up it’s sluggish. Yeah, I need to research the S&S tuning guide.
