Can anyone give me step by step directions on recalibrating my speedo. I accidently got it in calibration mode, and cant get it back. It just turned over to 15000 miles, and it's showing that it nhas 24350 miles....HELP!!!
I also broke the little plastic thing that the speedo button fits in. I was told that I have to replace the whole speedo beacuse they dont sell that part. WTF!!

Sky, the procedure is long and requires you ride an exact two mile stretch of road.

Here is the procedure for getting into the calibration mode. Do it again and see if it reverses and goes back to regular mode.

1. While holding down the button on the face of the speedo, turn on the ignition switch and when the speedo powers up, the display will show "-_-_-". At this point release the button and wait a couple seconds and then press it again and the display will show "O-----O". Now the speedo is ready to calibrate.

2. To calibrate you need to be on a lonely road at a mile marker. Conduct the procedure above then ride exactly two miles and stop. Don't turn off ignition. Now push the button and it will display a number. This is your calibration number.

My manual is for 05 but should be the same. Pulse counts should be "98720".
I would try to get out of the calibration mode by reversing the procedure above first.

As for your button.... The speedo's are sealed unit provided by Autometer. If your bike is under warranty then company will replace it for you.

Good luck and please do an intro of yourself. :D

Raywood,
Sorry I didnt introduce myself. I just found out about this site and hurried thru the problem I was having. Anyway I have done the procedure you said and get a 99000 reading. Then I pushed the button again and it went back to 0's on the tripmeter, then I pushed it again and it reads 24350 miles, when I actually only have 15000 miles.
I dont quite understand what you mean about reversing procedure. Does that mean hold button down then turn key off?

My manual actually says it will read 99,000 but also has the 98720 in (). I don't know why it's showing a different mileage now. Sounds like you are going to have to contact the factory or pm Ohmster or Dogvet and see what they say.

Raywood I notice you have 56000 miles on your 05. WOW you are a real rider. My 06 Ridgeback just turned over to 15000. I am out of town alot, but when I'm home I ride it, not just to bars. I usually ride at least 100 miles at a time. 56000......way to go!
I want to put some pictures of mine here, but havent figured out how to do it yet.

I've been to your town plenty. I just retired 30's Submarines so spent a couple years in Newport News!
Are you in the Navy or Marines?

There is a How To on uploading pictures in the Help section. Not to hard to do.
Yell if you need help.
Later,
Ray

No I'm not in the service, but I do live in the flight traffic pattern for Oceana Naval Airstation. They are down to about 400 feet over my house, and peaple complain about my bike being loud.....go figure.

Just a stab here, but doing the math, if she's reading 23450 vice ~15000 I'll bet the speedo is set to kilometers/hr vice MPH. Thus the reading is higher than you expect as it's showing kilometers travelled and not miles.

I think you "new model" dudes have that option on your speedos to change between the two modes.

Good catch Chacha, Sky if that's the case then look at your speedo window and see if there is a dot between the first and second digit. The manual says this.

To change back to MPH;

To change from KM/H to MPH or visa versa simply hold down the button on the speedo and turn the ignition key on. A set of dashed lines will appear. Continue holding the button down till the dashes change to numeric reading.
