SPEEDOMETER

Hi to everybody just signed up
I have a 2008 BD Mutt bought new, with about 15,000 miles. Lats weekend I went to a stude club meeting and everything was fine. On the way home my speedo needle pegged on the high side and in the odometer also was running way fast, in about 8 miles it registered about 500 miles. I discounted the seeding unit and the tach worked but no speedo which is what I expected. reconnected it and the same problem.
Any suggestions
thanks

Well reintroduce yourself, it's only polite, then start with the easy stuff first. Pull the sending unit and clean it, weirder things have happen. I had a 03 in my shop that after 16000 started doubling the mileage, but the speedometer was still working. I cleaned the sending unit, and it stopped, but I was never convinced that was the problem.

thanks some more info I discounted the sending unit at the coupling, thelast shop that worked on the bike went nuts with an impact so i might have to drill out the screw. Anyway with the sending unit discounted the tach still works and when I turn on the bike it still does the needle swing to 60MPH and then back to zero, does this new info help? thanks

I have some what of speedo problem also, I installed a ESC and the speedo on start up goes thru the sweep, but don't register how fast, to check the sensor on the tranny, if your bike has the self canceling turn signals, take it for a ride and turn a signal on, does it turn off? If it does the sensor is working, mine is and I have continuity with the green wire at the speedo also. I think the speedo took a crap. The tach and neutral, high beam and oil light are separate from the speedo.

How exactly is the speedo sender connected with the turn signal? don't make sense somehow. :oldconfused::oldconfused:

To check and see if it's working or not, take it for a ride or put it in gear when its running on a stand and put the turn signal on, if it cancels after a minute or so, then the sensor is working, if it don't then the sensor is not working, its the self canceling feature in the ECH, ESC or RIP module
