Speedometer Troubleshooting

I did a search and didnt come up with anything. After finally getting my starting system worked out I noticed that my speedometer and odometer are not working.
When I turn on the ignition it goes from 0 to 140 then back to 0. Ive been told this is normal.
When I was having a starter problem after extensive cranking it would do this again. Im assuming the battery got so low the module powered off and on and that this is normal????
Sinse the speedo does cycle is it ok or could something else be wrong? Im thinking the pickup module? Is there a way to test it?

I can probably bet it's the sensor. Someone said to take the sensor out and pass a screwdriver back and forth. I've never tried it. I can tell you that you can get a sensor on ebay for about $35 buck, but you will need to attach the wires. The wires are a little short on the new sensor. Sensors do go bad. I have an 03 and the sensor went out around 7k. Hope this helps.

Mine went bad at the 7G mark as well.
