Speedometer Question..

When I turn my ignition the rpm needle goes up for a split second which I think is normal but...the odometer shows 48k miles for that split second and then goes to the 9k miles that it has on it....is that normal?

Yes, they all do it.

That is normal. It is doing it's pulse count.

It's showing the calibration count number. The number of speedo sensor signal ticks used to calculate the distance for a traveled distance. In most cases it is representative of a mile.
