Speedometer problems/new suggestions

Guys how hard is it to put on a new SPEEDOMETER? Can you give me a suggestion as to what to buy and how to install? Mine is OEM and I'm tired of it sometimes not working (no speed, rpm, odometer but runs fine) until I shut the bike off and on again and try again. I have the German elektronikbox EHC and it still does it. 08 Mastiff

so you loose speedo and rach at the same time?
This would indicate a problem other than the speedo as the annuciator (tach, indicator lights etc) are seperate circuits -- they're even two different connectors from the EHC to the speedo cup.
You might want to dig a little deeper first.

If you do replace the speedo, I'm with HMAN -- Dakota digital is the way to go -- pretty easy task overall, just have to take your time and be patient so you don't slip and mess up the tank.

No there is a ground and power to speedo plus the signal wire.
The tach and other lights have a seperate ground wire.
2 seperate JST connectors. Speedo is 3 pin, annunciator is more. like 6 or 8

I'll check the tach again but definitely speed and odometer. I gassed up one day ad rode it home and the odo I reset to measure my gas milage was still at zero. I don't lose it, it doesn't activate when I turn the key on. I have to stop and turn the key off/on and try again.

I had a frayed wire that would short out on the harness once that created that issue with a speedo. Fixed wire and fixed issue. It was where the wires come up from ehc and make bend town top to route under tank -- was hard to see.
