can speedo be calibrated on 2002 PitBull
Thanks for sharing this Rick. Don’t think I’ve ever seen this before. Do you have this little black unit on your speedometer? Is this what is referred to as the Electronic Control Box in diagram #3?I believe they were still using my speedo in 2002. If so, yes, you can calibrate it for speed accuracy. Take a look at these instructions.

I am having trouble with my OEM speedo on a 2005 bigdog mastiff. Originally it would test up to around 20 and then to zero. The tach would work but the needle would bounce around 10-15 mph while im on the highway. The odometer seems to only be tracking mileage at that MPH as well as because i rode probably 18 miles and the odometer only tracked like 3.8 miles.I believe they were still using my speedo in 2002. Post a picture. Should be two if it is like this tank.I am having trouble with my OEM speedo on a 2005 bigdog mastiff. Originally it would test up to around 20 and then to zero. Any i thought Speed sensor.. I ordered and installed the new speed sensor from Wildsteed and it didnt fix the issue. I tried to "calibrate" with the 2 mile distance procedure, thinking that would fix it. I only got Err on the screen 3 times in a row.
I likely need to start tracking wires etc.. but don't want to take the tank all the way off if i dont have to. My mastiff has a "dashboard" type thing with the speedo installed in it. I noticed in a picture somebody was using that looked like it may have been yours, you were able to get that middle dashboard off without removing the tank.
When i pull up on mine it comes up a little but then i feel some resistance and certainly dont want to break it. How did you get that off, just keep lifting or are there some set screws someplace?
Look forward to hearing back from ya as getting the dog back on the road has been a challenge from changing the start to now this.
Bike runs good and if it was just the speedo id say phuk it and just ride, but without a gas gauge the odometer is critical so i dont end up pushin it.
Thanks in advance
Bob

mine is a 2005 and has no visible hardware.. I can lift the edge closet to the seat but there is clearly something retaining that top portion by the bars, just cant see whats holding itPull both screws from the dash panel, one from the chrome and one down by the seat, and lift the whole center section from the tanks
There is no visible hardware that i can see and lord knows i dont wanna assume there is nothing like a set screw or something holding in place and end up busting it. Just thought maybe somebody else with that tank and dashboard type set up would have taken that center section out for speedo issues or whatever
Yea i think i have reserved myself to just taking the tank off and giving myself all the room i need to work without tryin to be slick and making a bad situation worse. The only screws under the tank i can see is the large hex head that goes thru the frame. Once i get it all off i can see whats up.Could there be a screw from under the tank though the frame? Not sure.
Im thinking there is likely a small hexhead that isnt able to be seen until the tank is either loosed and pulled back or removed completely. Right where the backbone necks-up to the handlebar area. At least the thought!Could there be a screw from under the tank though the frame? Not sure.
The 05 dash is a little different. There are two allen screws under the front. Take them out. The rear is held down by a pin. Gently push down on the rear of the dash and push forward. It will pop off.Im thinking there is likely a small hexhead that isnt able to be seen until the tank is either loosed and pulled back or removed completely. Is your rear pin missing? You shouldn't be able to lift up the rear of the dash. There should be a bracket under the rear dash with a grommet in it. It slides over the pin.MLeach72 was exactly right!
My 2005 Mastiff has a speedo in the tank (dashboard)in order to get that center section out of the there you will need to remove two hidden allen head screws that are mounted in the very front part of the gas tank underneath. The pictures are taken looking under the tank with a mirror. Something tells me these are gonna be great fun to get back in. BUT will get er done.
Thanks Again MLeach72 as i hadnt found any clips that showed how to get that piece out.
