I believe they were still using my speedo in 2002. If so, yes, you can calibrate it for speed accuracy. Take a look at these instructions.
Thanks for sharing this Rick. Don’t think I’ve ever seen this before. Do you have this little black unit on your speedometer? Is this what is referred to as the Electronic Control Box in diagram #3? IMG_4289.jpeg

Huh, no I don’t have that. My speedo is 100% self-contained and is easily calibratable per these instructions. It was amazing to discover it after 20 years of speed calculations in my head. The first 15 I was going 10% faster than the reading and the next five years after replacement I was going 10% slower than the reading. The five years was the toughest after 15 of opposite issue. I would find myself creeping into towns where the speed limit dropped to 45 or 35 if I did it subconsciously. Calibrating it to exact was a liberating experience! It sure messed with my odometer tracking of fuel too.
Is that perhaps the brain of your sensor? Do you have a transmission sensor or cam sensor? Mine is tranny. And that black wire bundle hard wires to it on mine. No nifty disconnect.
