Speedometer Backlight Out "something I did ?"

Hey Guys, I'm new to the fourm, I intro'd myself and I did a few searches for what I am looking for, can't seem to locate. So don't anyone get mad if they are repeating themselves. I have an 01 Mastiff had it for about a month now, it's got around 5500 miles. Anyway I recently replaced the headlight as only the high beam was working when I bought it. Don't know if it happened right away or not but the speedo backlight isn't working now. Did I put in the wrong type of headlight or is it just coinsidence the speedo light went out. I bought the headlight at Auto Zone and it's a sealed beam with a 3 prong on the back, but not sure if it's exactly the same as the one I threw out. Any input would be greatly appreciated, either an answer or a direction to a thread. Thanks.

No connection with the headlight. Got a pic of the speedo? Most were made by Autometer and I know the lights on the 2004 are red LEDs so they don't burnout. Rest of the speedo working OK?

the rest of speedo works fine, just no light. I'll take a photo of it tomorrow and try to figure out how to post it here. If it's a bulb I'd understand but if it's an led then it has to be something else right?

These BDM speedo's are pretty much always going goofy. Never heard of just the light going out though. Anyway I have a new one I just bought, but have decided not to use because I'm going for the Dakota Digital instead.
I'm in Gilbert. PM Me if interested....................I have it on Ebay right now for 120.00, but I can certainly sell it outside of that to help a forum member out.

i have replaced both bulbs on mine, 2001 big dog wolf, pretty easy to do, took the bulbs to advance auto and they had the replacements.

Who needs a speedo? Does anyone Really do the speed limit anyway? Shave all the shit off that bike.

Frosty, mine has gone out a couple of times... I got replacements from a Victory dealership.
It's a PIA to take it out- but it's not real technical. Once you got the speedo off the tank cover I think you'll see what you need to do to get to the bulb... but if not give me a shout no worries.
Take the bulb to any decent auto parts place or bike dealership they should have it in stock.

I've replaced speedo bulbs a couple times on my '02 Pitbull too. Bulbs @ Autozone/O'Reilly, etc. It's simple, but a bit of a pain. Has anyone swapped in a Dakota Digital on a pre-2003 tank dash mount? I'm curious to see if the integrated tach would work without extensive wiring changes.

My '07 K9 speedo is functional but the sight glass is badly cracked and the function button is ugly. Anyone have a glass and button? Please? Email me at natepack@yahoo.com.
