I still haven't got the speedo fixed, 2008 MUTT. It read about 15% or more high, both in MPH and the odometer. The book says to 1st take out and clean the sending unit,and then u can do a field calibration. So far i have NOT been able to figure out where the sending unit is located, and when i find it how to get it out, any help out there? Oh and how good is that field calibration?

I'm going to be interested in hearing this answer. I too have a 2008 Mutt. I have not had one single issue with it. Bought it brand new in 08 and it is still running like new with no issues.

Sender is on the right side of the bike, on top of the tranny. There is a hex screw holding it on and you will see wires coming out of it. The wires are in a protective sleave so it looks like one bigger wire. Just remove the screw and the unit will come out with some gentle rocking. As far as I know, field calibration is good and should be dead on if you take the time to do it right. Never tried it though...
