I have a red one and I don't have any trouble reading it in any lighting conditions. My red Dakota even shows up when I take videos of my bike running. I do however want to get the blue one because it would match my bike better. They didn't have the blue one when I purchased my Dakota Digital. So if I was going to buy one I would get the color that matched the color scheme of my bike.

I would definitely recommend eBay I have seen them from $217 and up I believe that the average price is about $260 US dollars.

Dakotas are more reliable than stock AutoMeter from vibration, but still arent worth 2 squirts of piss unless you ride at night. Just my 2 cents
I can always read the speed no problem. Slightly washed out in direct sunlight but still readable.

Someone mentioned polarized glasses may wash it out. I know my riding glasses are not polarized, just rX glasses with transition lenses.
