Tach works, but the needle and odo. stopped working. When I turn the key on the needle moves then goes back to zero? Any suggestions?

Based on that report, then you have power, the system passed the start up test and calibration, and it's ready to receive a signal on the green line.

When moving, does the needle move at all? -- If not, then check the speed sensor at the tranny.

another possibility - this sometimes happens to me - if I shut the bike off, turn off at the key, and then go through the starting procedure again it works. This is likely to be caused by the battery in my case - the cranking saps enough power to affect the speedo.

Put up an intro on yourself... You'll get more response when you respect the pack.

Do you keep your bike on a battery tender? Most of your speedo issues are related to low power from the battery.

Thanks alot everyone. i pulled out the sensor went for a 15min ride, shut it off, then restarted and it works. Looks like the voltage was probably the problem. This is a great site!

Hey Gas Man, what do you mean about the intro? I am new to this and not exactly a computer genius!

I had the same problem recently, but wasnt so lucky. I had to get a new speedo sensor for mine. It got fried when my battery shorted on me and burnt up. Thought I was going to have to find a new speedo at first, but thank God I didnt.
