Hello,

I've got an '04 Chopper w/ about 10.5k miles. The speedometer seems to work fine except for two items.

1. The tach lights don't work at all
2. the green neutral light doesn't work either

My oil and high beam light work though.
Do you all have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
Thanks from Tejas!
Paul

Since your oil and beam lights work, you are getting power to the tach board. There are two pigtails coming out of your speedo housing...the thicker one is the bundle for the tach board. Follow it down to the connector (under the tank -- yep, ya gotta pull it to do it right) and check for any loose or broken pins or wires.

I had a problem with my tack leds for a while -- traced it to a loose pin in the connector (green line).

Don't forget to check you neutral switch connection at the tranny just in case that's loose or f'd up too.

What kind of tach light issues did you have?
My tach lights start jumping around after about 40 min of riding

Are you talking about the connector to the ECH?

It was a loose connection for the tach signal (green line) under the tank (not at the ECH). Part of the problem is the BDM connections are nice and small, but they don't hold up well compared to a HD connector. Even after I switched to the WIRE+ harness, I kept the stock BDM connections for the speedo and tach board since I don't have enough room under the tank for the larger HD connections.

I replaced the tach boards connector under the tank and all is well...

Hi,

Thanks, so do you have to cut the old one out or can you replace the connector by removing the wires from it?

Thanks
Tom

You can replace just the connector if the pins are still good...
