Speedo and RPM Gauge lights go off

Maybe someone might know this before I rip into my bike trying to figure out what now. I Start the bike and my speedo and rpm gauge light up red and flicker and turn off or go on and turn off and than just don't go on when I turn the ignition on. Anyone know what this could be? One interesting thing happen to it before we went to Big Bear, the RPM the little thing that points at the RPM's broke in half and fell off and I don't know where half of it went. Half of it is still on but is 180 degrees of where it should be. It's just a Nub pointing backwards now. I was just thinking maybe it went into the back and is shorting things out. I will start there and if anyone has a clue, can you please let me know and I will check when I have it all apart.

Sounds like you are on the right track to me but all I know is from reading on the forum. Check all the wires while you have it open. There have been several threads about broken or lose wires in the speedo.

Engine idle to low will cause the tack leds to flash.

Anyone know how to get the RPM Gauge apart? I have everything apart but that. It has a hex bolt in the back and I turn and turn but it wont come apart. I am sure that's how it comes apart but I am doing something wrong. Thanks

What year is you Bike? Looks like you have a tachometer besides the speedometer. Newer dogs have a speedometer with LED lights for a techometer. You may just need to get a new tech or get the Dakota Digital. Just saying
