Hi,

I need your help/support with speed sensor.I have changed my original transmission box in my 2004 Big Dog Bulldog last year to Ultima 6 speed RSD.Unfortunately my mechanic lost somewhere wires and old sensor from old transmission box.
I will appreciate if you can advise where I can buy wire with speed sensor to Ultima gearbox and to connect to Big Dog module.Speedometer is working properly with all exept speed/odo.

I assume that it may looks like on attached picture(example).

Please support.

Regards to everybody from Poland.

If you can say yes to these questions then you can use the sensor shown.
1. Does the diameter of the pickup fit in the hole?
2. With sensor in hole, does the hole for the bolt line up with the transmission and that threaded hole?
3. Where the connectors attach, is there a 3 wire connector for the sensor wires on the main wire harness?
4. With the trans rebuild, can you see the gear tooth that triggers the sensor thru the hole where the sensor fits?

Then I don't see why not.

Hi Sven

The sensor on the picture is an example only.I dont have it,picture is downloaded from internet.I am looking for the proper one which will fit Ultima gearbox and to connect to my module.Where can I buy it?At least I require sepcification of sensor which will fit to my Ultima 6speeds RSD with proper amount of wires to connect to motocycle module.

Thank you

I'd start with an early type OEM harley sensor for the trans. You figure they had that sensor to replicate the OEM trans so just say for a 6 speed. Remember, I am not familiar with the BD, so if the harley sensor comes with a sub-harness, the connectors just might fit together. But you are saying it connects to a module.

This is now over my job description. To loophole it, I need to see where you think it plugs into and see if there are 3 or 2 wires needed for the sensor. And then you'll know if the OEM will work with the wires it has coming out of the sensor.

I think it goes something like this:
2-wire is like a crank sensor. It's one wire wrapped around a magnetic core and you see the two wires about to pulse A/C as the gear sweeps past it at a faster/slower speeds.
3-wire is to add 12v to a wire to magnetize the core, the other wire is ground, the last wire heads to the module to calc a voltage spike made. The empty module plug should expose those pins, right?

Thanks Sven,I appreciate very much your support.Let me check cables in module and open gearbox for size of sensor.
