Spectro 75W-140 Review

Just got back from a 100 mile ride in and out of town testing the Spectro 75W-140 6 Speed Trans Fluid. After review I have to say that it makes a noticable difference. I was using Redline previously and could never get the scoot into neutral at red lights especially when cold. Now I have no problems at all. Also, the dreaded clunk when shifting is gone and has a very smoth transition. Looks like I'll be sticking to this in the future.

Take it from an AMSOIL guy and rider. You can't go wrong putting a heavy duty, full synthetic gear lube in your transmission as long as it's a name brand product. The ease of using the same in all 3 holes is just that, easy. The gear lube will offer quieter operation, less wear, easy shifting (including finding neutral) and longer life. This is even more important if you ride in cold weather as synthetics do not thicken and continue to lubricate evenly as the temps go down. Give it a try. You will become a believer.:2thumbs:

Interesting post, and I appreciate the info. The question is, how the hell did you get that milk shake thick Redline completely out of the trans?

I totally agree! We use synthetic in our aircraft engines and based on oil analysis from the dyno oil, it makes a big difference on wear and tear.

Synthetics have a detergent quality about them. They don't actually have any detergents however they do seem to clean things up. If you feel you have a lot of residue you could dump what you have, put a good quality synthetic gear lube in, run it a few hundred miles and change it. You may still have some coloration but most of the residue should be gone.

Holy Shit that stuff is thick, lol! I took the scoot for a ride to warm up the fluid, put it on jacks high enough to put a pretty good slope for the fluid to drain, left it overnight, lowered the scoot, rocked it back and forth and leaned it way over to the right..almost to the point of the exhaust touching, lol. And even that didn't get all of it out. I'll change it again in a few hundred miles to get the rest out. Be careful when refilling the trans so you don't put too much in since a little of the old will still be in there.

Mad Dog, thanks for the reply, that's sort of what I thought I might have to do. When my wrench pulled my tranny to have it powdercoated the Redline stuff was clinging to everything (which is probably a good thing), I knew at that point you simply couldnt heat up the tranny and expect that stuff to drain out.

Thanks for the update

:flag: Tom Chop has anguished over lubricants in my K-9 over the years. The Big Dog manuals are contradictory to say the least. I`m happy to hear the results of the Spectro heavy tranny oils and I`ll be giving them a try, you can bet!
Take Care
