Spark Plug Wire Set Recall

I had to take my 2008 K-9 EFI to the dealer/shop last week for a failed EFI control module. I also mentioned to them that I noticed the spark plug wire to the front cylinder was apparently rubbing against the cylinder fins and had exposed the silver braid shield inside the wire. I suspect this would have evenually caused misfiring. I was told there is a service bulletin out to replace the wire set with a better fitting set that includes a strap or some type of restraint to keep the wires in place and away from rubbing against the cylinder heads. I'll pick up the bike tomorrow and will see the fix for myself. Question: Has this topic been on the forum before now? I'm a new member and have not seen this mentioned before. Thanks to all for providing your experiences and improvement ideas. Great website!!!

I think my bike is the one that started the service bulletin 1097 last fall. Bike ended up going back to Kansas to find out what was wrong. Missing and dying just off of idle along with a host of other issues. Ended up replacing most of the electronics in the end. EHC, coil wires and so on. Issued the SB when they worked on it. Said the diamond heads had cut the wires.
Don't even want to think about all the stuff anymore that has gone wrong.

I think they quit building the Bulldog models due to all the stuff that has gone wrong on mine. 07 was the only FI bike. I tried to get them to swap me out with a carburated bike but no dice. I can tell you stories on the FI system failing and the electrical problems.
I Let it all die on the other forum before I migrated over here.

Picked up my 2008 K-9 EFI today and reviewed the repairs. Found out the ignition failure was due to a bad coil. The spark plug wire recall provides an improved set of wires that have better/tighter fitting connectors to the coil. Also, I noticed they used two nylon tie wraps to hold the two spark plug wires together at the point where they come horzontally out of the coil and turn down. My original wires were not constrained here, spread apart and rubbed against the cylinder heads. You might want to check yours and use a couple of nylon ties to hold the wires together here. Don't know how long the nylon ties will hold up to the cylinder head heat?
